High Times is an American monthly magazine, and later a cannabis brand, that focussed on marijuana culture, including consumption and manufacturing, as well as other counterculture ideas. The magazine was released in 1974 by Tom Forcade who attempted to lampoon Playboy, but using weed plants in place of nude women as the focus subjects and centerfolds. The first issue, essentially a gag, was a huge commercial success– never intended to go to print beyond the inaugural issue.
